RawPhotoPro

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 27, 2026

RawPhotoPro ("the app") is a photo editor for Mac operated by Attereon. This policy describes what data the app handles and how. In short, your photos, your edits, and everything the app knows about them stay on your Mac. Attereon never receives your photos, and the app has no account and no analytics.

What the app stores

The app keeps a catalog about your photos on your Mac, inside its sandboxed storage. The catalog holds the folders you add; your ratings, flags, color labels, keywords, titles, and collections; every edit with its history and snapshots; and details read from the files, such as capture date, camera, lens, and location. It also keeps previews of your photos so the library opens quickly, backups of the catalog, and any crash and hang reports macOS collects for the app.

Your photos

The app reads photos only from folders you add and, if you add it, your Photos library. It never changes an original: an edit is a set of instructions saved in the catalog. The app writes files only when you ask it to. That covers exports, enlarged copies made with Super Resolution, imports from a camera card, metadata (XMP) files saved beside your photos, and edits you save to your Photos library. Deleting photos in the app moves them to the Trash, or to Recently Deleted in Photos.

Photos access is granted by you in macOS and can be withdrawn in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos. An edit saved to Photos is stored in your Photos library, and syncs through iCloud Photos if you use it, under Apple's terms.

Cloud folders

If your photos are in a folder synced by iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or a similar service, the app opens them through macOS like any other file. Downloading a photo is between your Mac and that service, under its terms. Read Camera Details fetches only the small part of each file that holds the camera and lens information, then lets the service free the space again.

Features that run on your Mac

Automatic masks, subject and sky detection, auto adjustments, and Super Resolution all run on your Mac. No photo is sent anywhere to process it.

Internet connections

The Mac App Store version has no internet access of its own: it does not ask macOS for that permission. The version downloaded from attereon.com checks attereon.com for updates. It does this automatically only if you allow it, and otherwise when you choose RawPhotoPro › Check for Updates. Each check tells our server the app's name and version, and, as with any web request, the server sees your IP address. We do not use it to identify or track you.

A few actions you take send something outside the app, only to where you choose:

  • Opening a photo's location in Maps passes its coordinates to Apple Maps.
  • Sharing a photo sends it to the app or service you pick in the Share menu.
  • Help › Report a Problem starts an email to us in your mail app. It includes the app and macOS versions and the newest crash reports macOS collected, which contain technical details and no photos. Nothing is sent unless you send the email.

What we do not do

  • We do not receive, upload, or store your photos or edits.
  • We do not require an account.
  • We do not collect analytics or usage statistics. If you choose in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with crash reports for the App Store version.
  • We do not show ads or use trackers, and we do not sell or share data with anyone.

Data retention and deletion

Everything the app stores is on your Mac and yours to keep or remove. File › Remove All Edits clears your edits, and deleting a folder from the library removes its catalog entries. Uninstalling the app and deleting its data from your Mac removes the catalog, its backups, and its previews. Your original photos are never affected.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
